About
Founded in 1837, MCC is one of the oldest colleges in India and sits on a 365-acre scrub-forest campus at Tambaram — among the largest and most ecologically distinctive college campuses in the country, with its own spotted-deer population. It ranks 16th among Indian colleges in NIRF 2025 and is heavily residential, with historic halls such as Bishop Heber, St. Thomas' and Selaiyur shaping campus life. Its economics, English and life sciences departments have long produced administrators, academics and clergy across South India.
