About
Set up in 1937 as the University of Travancore by the princely state, this is Kerala's oldest university and the parent of most of the famous colleges in the south of the state. It is best known for producing a President of India, two ISRO chairmen and the geneticist M. S. Swaminathan, and for consistently ranking among the top 25 universities in NIRF. Its postgraduate departments sit on the leafy Kariavattom campus outside Thiruvananthapuram.
