Kurukshetra University sits on a large campus beside the Brahma Sarovar in the town associated with the Mahabharata, and is one of Haryana's oldest and biggest state universities. It is best known for its engineering institute (UIET), its law and pharmacy faculties and its Institute of Sanskrit and Indological Studies. The foundation stone was laid by Dr. Rajendra Prasad, and the campus is unusually large and green for a north Indian state university.
