AIIMS Gorakhpur serves eastern Uttar Pradesh and the Nepal border belt, a region historically short of tertiary care, which gives students unusually heavy exposure to infectious disease and paediatric emergencies. As a young institute its PG and super-speciality programmes are still expanding, but the MBBS seat is among the most competitive in UP.
