Founded in 1946 by B.M. Sreenivasaiah, BMSCE was the first privately financed engineering college in India and remains one of Bengaluru's most established technical institutions. Its campus in Basavanagudi is small and city-centre rather than sprawling, which students trade for unmatched proximity to Bengaluru's tech industry. It has been autonomous under VTU for years and offers unusual branches such as Medical Electronics.
